Headway in North Yorkshire and Humber 2023 Review

As we welcome in the New Year, the North Yorkshire and Humber Collective have been reflecting on 2023 and all the amazing things we have achieved at each local Headway branch.

Take a look at our "2023 Wrapped" below:

Headway Grimsby have continued to welcome members to their monthly social events at Freshney Green Medical Centre. Members have benefited from getting together to have a cuppa and a chat throughout the year.

Harrogate & District

Headway Harrogate have enjoyed plenty of fun social events at the Everyman Cinema in 2023. From complimentary cinema outings to behind the scenes at Everyman, members have explored the world of film.

It wasn't only movies that Harrogate got stuck into, members also received an informative talk from North Yorkshire Fire Safety and Rescue on the importance of fire safety in the home.

In November, members put on their creative hats and crafted their own Christmas crackers! Headway Harrogate and District ended 2023 with a lovely festive lunch at the Everyman cinema.

Hull & East Riding

Headway Hull have put on a range of fun activities for their members in 2023. Aside from their regular fortnightly coffee meetings, the branch have enjoyed a variety of outings.

In June members benefited from a visit to Motion Rehab to learn about the range of equipment and services that could aid their rehabilitation.

Members also enjoyed visiting a local garden centre to pick flowers to plant at the Danish Church, followed by a lovely BBQ in the sun.

The fun didn't stop there, Hull have also been trying their hands at arts and crafts, from Christmas cards to festive ornaments, we can't wait to get the paint brushes back out in 2024.

Members enjoyed a range of festive socials this year with our Christmas party and Christmas lunch.

Headway Hull have also been hard at work with fundraising. In summer the branch visited Castle Hill's neurorehabilitation ward to take part in their annual fun day. Funds were also raised for the branch at a local law society ball and a festive mince pie morning.

Headway Scunthorpe have continued to welcome members to their monthly coffee meetings and zoom meetings.

Aside from getting together from the comfort of their own homes, members have enjoyed outings with the branch, the most popular being tenpin bowling in September.

Scunthorpe finished off the year with a fun-filled Christmas party featuring tombola, a raffle and a festive buffet.

Headway York have been enjoying regular outings with members throughout 2023.

From mini golf to scrumptious Italian meals, members have been getting together to chat and share their experiences with brain injury. Members have also had access to useful remote sessions such and mindful yoga.

York finished off the year with a festive treat at the Dormouse Pub.

Yorkshire East Coast

Headway Yorkshire East Coast excitingly reopened its' doors to members for the first social since the Covid-19 pandemic. It was great to see members returning to the branch.

The branch ended 2023 with a lovely festive meal at Ask Italian.

What's on in 2024?

All of our branches are excited to welcome members back to our social events in 2024. We can't wait to see what this year has in store for the Collective and what exciting things we get up to. Be sure to keep an eye out on our website for upcoming events, and sign up for regular updates.
